The People's Committee of Bình Định Province has just approved an investment policy for the Vân Canh Bình Định Wind Power Plant project, which will now go to bidding to select investors.

According to the design, the plant has a capacity of 143MW, with an expected electricity output of about 391.8 million kWh per year. The total investment of the project is estimated at about VNĐ5.7 trillion, of which the preliminary construction cost is nearly VNĐ5.7 trillion and the compensation and resettlement cost is about VNĐ24.7 billion.

The project will be built on an area of about 49 ha in the province’s Vân Canh District, and has a 50-year operating period. It is expected to be implemented within 36 months from the date the investor is officially recognised.

Aimed at providing a renewable electricity source for the national power system, the project will help reduce power loss during transmission. It is also expected to bring stable budget revenue to the province, create jobs for local workers, increase the value of industrial production and support the province’s goal of double-digit growth in the next few years.

In early May, the People's Council of Bình Định Province issued a resolution to supplement the list of land plots in the province to bid on for investors to implement projects in the next year.

Of these, the province will bid on eight plots of land for renewable energy projects, with most of these receiving interest from domestic and foreign enterprises that have already proposed surveys and investment plans.
