Royal Group SEZs offer jobs to more than 50,000 workers
Royal Group Phnom Penh SEZ Plc (PPSP) has achieved a significant milestone in its growth path.
The total workforce across its two Special Economic Zones— Royal Group Phnom Penh Special Economic Zone (RGPPSEZ) and the newly established Royal Group Kandal Special Economic Zone (RGKSEZ) located just a bridge away from each other—has surpassed 50,000 employees, underscoring the zones’ roles as key drivers of employment and industrial development in Cambodia, the group said in a statement issued yesterday.
“As of April 2025, the RGPPSEZ employs 48,730 workers, while the RGKSEZ—developed by Royal Group Kandal SEZ Co Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of PPSP employs 2,016 workers, bringing the combined total to 50,746 employees.
“In addition, 802 foreign professionals from 13 countries are also employed here.”
Highlighting the expatriate employment, which has created a diverse talent pool, the group pointed out: “The leading number of personnel employed is from China (577), followed by Japan (109), Vietnam (40), Thailand (34), and Malaysia (15). This reflects the two SEZs’ growing international presence and the diverse talent pool contributing to their development. Together, the two SEZs are home to 117 companies from 14 countries, bringing a wide range of manufacturing activities.
According to Royal Group, in the first quarter of 2025, export volume from its zones reached $431 million, marking a significant 8.6 percent increase compared to $397 million during the same period in 2024.
“Over time, the zones have evolved into vital engines of job creation and industrial transformation, playing a key role in the country’s economic development.”
Kith Meng, Chairman of PPSP and Chairman of the Royal Group, said in the statement that he is “very happy to lead this contribution to the development in which living standard of the workers and their families is improved, and the industry sector in the country is diversified”.
“Attributed to the country’s political and social stability, under the far-sighted leadership of Prime Minister Hun Manet, along with ongoing support from the Royal Government of Cambodia, a strong, investor-friendly environment has been established.
“As the zone developer, we remain dedicated to delivering high-quality services to all our investors, and efforts that continue to drive job creation for the Cambodian people.”
