Prime Minister approves development of over 6,000 hectares in Stung Treng as an agro-industrial hub
Prime Minister Hun Manet has approved the development of more than 6,000 hectares of land in Stung Treng province to facilitate the establishment of an agro-industrial hub.
He made the announcement on Saturday during the inauguration of National Road 71C connecting Tboung Khmum and Kampong Cham.
“I have just approved to develop more than 6,000 hectares of land in Stung Treng, to further boost agriculture and associated industries to transform it into an agro-industrial province,” Mr Hun Manet said.
The Prime Minister noted that while many areas of Cambodia were once isolated from the economic mainstream, this is no longer the case.
Although some regions remain geographically distant, they are no longer disconnected—thanks to the steady expansion of road networks that now link the capital to every province across the country, he said.
“We will work hard to get closer; the further we go, the closer we get. In terms of travel time, we can’t reduce the distance; 150 kilometers still remains 150 kilometers, but modern and better roads enable us to travel faster,” he added.
According to the Prime Minister, the northeastern region of the country, which consists of four provinces – Mondulkiri, Ratanakiri, Kratie and Stung Treng, will see development in the road infrastructure in the coming days that will bring them closer together like other provinces.
