Cambodian pavilion launched on Chinese platform to boost trade ties
A major Chinese e-commerce company has set up a Cambodian national pavilion on the e-commerce platform to display Khmer products to boost trade activities between Cambodia and China.
Cambodia and China Saturday officially launched the Cambodian national premium pavilion on the e-commerce platform of JD.com, a major Chinese company. It was presided over by Kha Leng, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Commerce (MoC) and Ly Khun Thai, President of the Cambodia Confederation of Investors Association (CCIA).
Among others who were present on the occasion were Chhean Leang, Secretary of State, Ministry of Information, Zhou Yi, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Junji Consulting Co., Ltd., JD Hangzhou, China, and other relevant officials.
Speaking at the event, Leng said that the major Chinese e-commerce company has taken the initiative to establish the national pavilion and plans to bring Cambodian products to display on its e-commerce platform, which will promote trade activities between Cambodia and China to run more vigorously and increase opportunities for Cambodian products to receive orders and export to consumers, Chinese and international markets.
“We noted that trade activities between Cambodia and China continue to be active. According to Cambodian trade statistics, in the first two months of 2025, the total trade volume between Cambodia and China was more than $2.6 billion, of which the volume of exports from Cambodia to China in terms of value was approximately $217 million,” said Leng.
The volume of imports from China to Cambodia was more than $2,444 million, an increase of approximately 21.1 percent compared to the same period in 2024.
As 2025 marks the Cambodia-China Tourism Year, it presents an opportunity to further connect and expand people-to-people exchanges, trade relations, and strengthen partnerships and cooperation, continuing to support Cambodia-China Diamond Cooperation, she said.
Leng said that the ministry is committed to supporting and facilitating Chinese investors and businesses at every stage of their operations in Cambodia. The ministry is dedicated to promoting bilateral trade and economic cooperation, offering a favorable market and an open economy, while maximizing the benefits of various trade agreements.
She called on businesspeople and investors to visit Cambodia personally because Cambodia is not only a prosperous country for trade and investment but also a tourist destination rich in cultural heritage and home to warm, friendly people.
Khun Thai said that the plan to display the Cambodian national pavilion on JD.com’s e-commerce platform has opened up a broader market for Cambodia. This initiative will not only boost Cambodia’s exports but also provide consumers on the platform with a deeper understanding of Cambodian culture and the value of its products.
“The results achieved so far reflect the integration of the company’s modern business model and advanced technologies into Cambodia’s logistics system. This, in turn, will strengthen and further expand the bilateral cooperation between Cambodia and China,” he said.
