Vietnam Tourism Development Fund, Grab Vietnam sign agreement to promote tourism

The Vietnam Tourism Development Fund (VTDF) under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and Grab Vietnam have recently inked a five-year Memorandum of Understanding with the goal of promoting Vietnamese tourism, advancing digital transformation in the industry, and fueling socio-economic growth in Việt Nam.

As part of this collaboration, Grab will be designated as the preferred transportation and e-commerce partner, enhancing the overall tourist experience in Việt Nam by offering a seamless array of services, including transportation, delivery, food ordering, goods, and cashless payments. In addition to transportation amenities, both domestic and international visitors can use the Grab app to explore local cuisine and shop for specialties, enriching their travel experiences in Việt Nam.

VTDF Chairwoman and Director Hoàng Thị Kim Anh stated: "Our operational goal is to effectively and sustainably promote and support Việt Nam's tourism development. The Vietnam Tourism Development Fund believes this collaboration with Grab will maximise our role and strengths, aiming to establish tourism as a key economic sector for the country.”

Over the next five years, VTDF and Grab Vietnam will leverage their combined expertise to position Việt Nam as a top choice for international tourists while also boosting domestic travel. Together, they will showcase Việt Nam's diverse cultural heritage, traditions, and culinary offerings.

The collaboration aims to work closely with travel agencies to curate integrated international tour packages within the Grab app to enhance visitor experiences and promote regional tourism clusters, encouraging travel between neighbouring provinces and cities. They also plan to amplify Vietnamese tourism and the Grab app through targeted domestic and international media campaigns.

Furthermore, the partnership aims to enhance public facilities for both tourists and local residents and provide support to Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in adopting digital platforms and tools to enhance business efficiency, engage in e-commerce, and facilitate cashless transactions.

In addition to these initiatives, Grab will highlight local culinary specialties within and beyond the app, offering reliable information and memorable dining experiences for tourists. This includes promoting local cuisine on GrabCar and sponsoring QR code-enabled benches at key tourist locations. On GrabFood, users will have easy access to ordering from renowned local eateries with special deals.

Beyond these focal points, the Vietnam Tourism Development Fund and Grab Vietnam plan to dedicate more resources towards enhancing the digital presence of local tourism destinations within the Grab app.
