Kandal Governor Urges Indonesian Ambassador to Attract More Investors to the province

Kandal provincial governor Kuoch Chamroeun urged the Ambassador of Indonesia to Cambodia to mobilise more investors to invest in the province, which is strategically located around Phnom Penh, the country’s economic hub.

Chamroeun made the request on Thursday during a courtesy call from Ambassador Santo Darmosumarto and his officials at the Kandal Provincial Hall on March 6, 2025.

During the meeting, the provincial governor provided a briefing on Kandal’s geography, economy, and development plans.

He noted that the vision for 2025 is for Kandal province to become a “belt supporting security, public order, industry, logistics, food, and housing.”

Chamroeun emphasised the province’s strategic location surrounding Phnom Penh, along with key infrastructure such as an international airport and vital national roads, which present significant investment opportunities.

In response, Ambassador Santo expressed his gratitude to the Governor for the warm reception and assured that he would work to attract more investors to Kandal.

The Ambassador also requested the provincial administration’s support in assisting Indonesians living in the province.

The Ambassador noted that the current economic relationship between Indonesia and Cambodia is valued at over $1 billion, making Indonesia the 7th largest trading partner of Cambodia.
