Industry Minister meets Panasonic delegation

Minister of Industry, Science, Technology, and Innovation Hem Vanndy met with a delegation from Panasonic Cambodia on March 21 to discuss the company’s contributions and future plans.

Hisakazu Maeda, Country Head of Panasonic Cambodia, shared the company’s history and initiatives in Cambodia since 2010, highlighting its mission to serve across Cambodia.

He emphasised Panasonic’s commitment to corporate social responsibility, particularly in promoting STEM education.

Maeda also discussed opportunities to promote fair trade and noted the company’s application for product registration with the Institute of Standards of Cambodia (ISC), along with his desire to establish a Panasonic factory in the country. Panasonic currently operates 15 factories in Thailand and four in Vietnam.

Vanndy applauded Panasonic’s 60 percent market share for wall-mounted products and encouraged the company to explore special economic zones (SEZs) for future factory locations.

He highlighted the increasing demand for electrical appliances as Cambodia approaches its 2029 graduation from least-developed country status.

Vanndy also encouraged joint research and innovation and linking local SMEs in its supply chain, while expressing MISTI’s support for attracting further Japanese investments.
