Citi celebrates 30 years of excellence in Vietnam

Amol Gupte, Citi Asia South head, and Ramachandran A.S., Citi Vietnam’s country officer and banking head, have jointly hosted landmark anniversary celebrations with stakeholders.

Citi proudly marked its 30th anniversary in Vietnam with two distinguished events held in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City on February 18 and 20.

These celebrations were hosted by Amol Gupte and Ramachandran A.S., and attended by numerous government officials, business and industry leaders, as well as Citi executives in Vietnam.

The events were graced by esteemed guests, including Pham Thanh Ha, Deputy Governor of the State Bank of Vietnam, US Ambassador Marc E. Knapper in Hanoi, and US Consul General Susan Burns in Ho Chi Minh City, all of whom delivered keynote speeches.

“Citi has played a pioneering role in connecting the financial systems of Vietnam and the United States. Citi continues to promote trade, investment, and broader economic cooperation between our two nations,” said Ha.

We are positioned for even greater growth as we look forward to more opportunities to grow together with Vietnam,” said Amol Gupte, Citi Asia South head and banking head.

Citi established its first representative office in Hanoi in 1993 and became the first US financial institution licensed by the Vietnamese government and opened a branch in Hanoi in January 1995, followed by a second branch in Ho Chi Minh City in 1998.

“We are celebrating three decades of dedication, innovation, and exceptional service to our international and local clients in Vietnam, also providing them with access to the 180 markets that we do business in. We look forward to many more decades of rapid progress, bringing the best of Citi to our clients,” said Ramachandran A.S., Citi Vietnam’s country officer and banking head.
