Data protection training programme launched

The National Cybersecurity Association (NCA) has officially launched a programme to train personal data protection officers (DPOs) to solve common problems in compliance with legal regulations on personal data protection on Tuesday.

The programme (VnDPO) is designed and taught by leading experts from the NCA and Việt Nam Data Security (VNDS).

Students participating in the programme will gain in-depth knowledge and training, with practice time accounting for up to 60 per cent of the course.

This will help resolve common problems with the process of complying with legal regulations on personal data protection.

According to Decree 13/2023/NĐ-CP, as part of the requirements for protecting personal data, businesses and organisations need to appoint a person in charge of personal data protection (a Data Protection Officer, or DPO).

The appointment of a DPO is very important, helping businesses comply with legal regulations, enhance data security and reduce the risk of data breaches and cyberattacks.

The DPO also helps enhance the company's reputation and customer trust and uphold the commitment to protect personal information, while minimising financial risks due to violations of the law and administrative sanctions.

In order to support and improve the professional capacity of personnel in charge of protecting personal data at organisations and enterprises, the VnDPO programme is optimally designed, combining theory and practice.

It focuses on practical situations, complies with the provisions of Vietnamese law and at the same time orients students in accordance with global DPO standards.

Upon completing the course, students will be able to analyse, process and resolve administrative procedures as well as organise and implement policies and technical measures to ensure personal data protection activities for their work unit.

The first training course in the VnDPO programme is expected to start at the end of this month.

Specific information about the programme and how to register can be found in detail on the NCA's website at https://nca.org.vn.
