CCCC, GDT discuss Cambodia’s tax laws and policies
The Chinese Chamber of Commerce in Cambodia (CCCC) and the General Department of Taxation (GDT) Monday jointly organized a highly successful Tax Seminar in Phnom Penh. The event attracted over 250 participants, including major Chinese investors in Cambodia, reflecting the strong interest and commitment to understanding and complying with Cambodian tax regulations.
The seminar was presided over by Bun Neary, Deputy Director General of GDT, and attended by GDT delegates alongside committee members of the CCCC.
In his opening remarks, Lin Shi Qiang, President of CCCC, expressed gratitude to the GDT for its unwavering support and partnership. He emphasized the seminar’s role in disseminating key updates on tax laws and policies, enabling CCCC members to conduct business transparently and in compliance with Cambodian regulations. “CCCC has formed a special tax working group with GDT to regularly meet and address tax issues for our members. We conduct seminars to provide a platform for insights into updated tax regulations,” he added.
Bun Neary highlighted the GDT’s efforts to enhance tax administration, especially in tax audits, following the directive of Prime Minister Hun Manet. The establishment of Tax Audit SOPs and a Special Tax Audit Unit aims to improve audit processes and create a transparent and predictable tax environment for investors.
Oknha Tan Khee Meng, advisor to the CCCC’s Tax Working Group and seminar facilitator, along with GDT representatives, talked on three major topics including the Regulation and Update of the Law on Taxation 2023, Regulations related to the 19th Royal Government-Private Sector Forum, and the Special Program for Sihanoukville Investment Promotion 2024.
“It was a highly successful seminar, greatly benefiting CCCC members who represent key Chinese investors in Cambodia. The GDT’s presentation provided essential knowledge, earning high praise for its clarity and professionalism,” said Oknha Tan Khee Meng.
The event was a resounding success, reinforcing the commitment of both the CCCC and GDT to fostering a transparent and supportive business environment in Cambodia.
