In his opening remarks, Deputy Director of Hà Nội Department of Industry and Trade Nguyễn Thế Hiệp said that the event is part of a series of activities to implement the campaign 'Vietnamese people prioritise using Vietnamese goods' across Hà Nội in 2024.

Hà Nội’s Vietnamese Goods Week 2024 offers businesses an opportunity to promote their brands as part of a wider trade promotion event, stimulate demand and bring Vietnamese products closer to residents and visitors.

Visitors to the expo will be able to check out and purchase quality products made by Vietnamese enterprises.

"The businesses and production facilities participating in the event have to prepare goods that ensure quality, clear origins, reasonable prices, attractive promotions and guarantee commercial ethics in compliance with the law,” Nguyễn Thế Hiệp said.

He also emphasised no counterfeit or substandard goods are allowed in order to protect consumer rights and the interests of businesses.

The special week features over 90 booths from businesses and producers of Vietnamese goods across various sectors, including consumer goods, industrial products, handicrafts, forestry and fishery products, safe and organic food and OCOP (One Commune One Product) products.

This event is also a practical stage for companies to boost production, foster business growth and partnerships and contribute to economic recovery.

In recent times, the service sector has been a bright spot, playing a vital role in Hà Nội's overall economic growth.

Total retail sales and service revenue in August was estimated at VNĐ369.9 trillion (US$14.95 billion), up 2.2 per cent compared to the previous month and 9.5 per cent compared to the same period last year.

In the first eight months of 2024, total retail sales and service revenue reached VNĐ2.7 quadrillion, an increase of 11.7 per cent year-on-year.

The Vietnamese Goods Week 2024 in Hà Nội will last until September 9.
