Hun Manet meets with Cambodia Chamber of Commerce representative office in Melbourne
Prime Minister Hun Manet encouraged the Cambodia Chamber of Commerce Representative Office in Melbourne, Australia (CCCM), to explore the Kingdom’s business opportunities and steer investments into key sectors such as agriculture, agro-industry, renewable energy, digital technology, education and healthcare.
The premier received a courtesy call from Tan Sithy, president of the CCCM, on Thursday at the Peace Palace.
Mr. Hun Manet also called for further collaboration with relevant Cambodian ministries and institutions to promote Cambodia-Australia business and trade opportunities.
During the meeting, Sithy briefed the prime minister on the process of establishing a representative office of the Cambodian Chamber of Commerce. He also discussed the election process of the leadership of the CCCM and their future plans.
Sithy said the purpose of the CCCM delegation’s visit was to explore potential business and investment opportunities in the Kingdom.
Mr. Hun Manet welcomed Sithy and his delegation and congratulated Tan Sithy on his appointment as president of the CCCM.
The premier mentioned that the establishment of the Cambodian Chamber of Commerce Representative Offices in Melbourne and Sydney are good steps forward in linking the business and commerce of the two countries to facilitate trade and to connect investors in both nations.
The prime minister also highlighted the Royal Government’s policies to ensure a better business environment and Cambodia’s competitiveness.
This includes the implementation of investment laws and the introduction of flexible mechanisms to provide support and encouragement to businesses and respond to the needs of the private sector.
The premier underscored that the Royal Government values the role of the private sector as an important partner in contributing to further socioeconomic development.
Mr. Hun Manet also outlined his vision to maintain economic growth, reduce poverty and foster socioeconomic development in order to improve citizens’ livelihoods.
In addition, the premier noted that Cambodia has the potential to connect to regional and international markets through free trade agreements with many countries, including the Cambodia-Korea Free Trade Agreement, the Cambodia-UAE Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement, the ASEAN Framework and the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (RCEP), all of which offer significant opportunities for Cambodian investors.
Finally, the prime minister reaffirmed the Royal Government’s commitment to maintaining stability, safety and security for investors in Cambodia. He also highlighted the importance of training the labour force in skills that serve industries such as automotive, electronics, digital and technology to respond to current and future job markets in line with global growth.
