Vietnamese Deputy PM Tran Luu Quang attends St. Petersburg International Economic Forum in Russia
Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang is leading a Vietnamese delegation to the 27th St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF 2024) in St. Petersburg, Russia, on Wednesday.

The delegation's attendance comes at the invitation of Anton Kobyakov, Advisor to Russian President Vladimir Putin, according to the Vietnam Government Portal.
The annual forum opened in St. Petersburg on Wednesday morning, with the theme of ‘The Foundations of a Multipolar World - The Formation of New Areas of Growth,’ the Voice of Vietnam (VOV) reported.
The event, which lasts until June 8, attracts more than 17,100 participants and 3,400 media representatives from 136 countries, according to Kobyakov, who is also executive secretary of the Organizing Committee of SPIEF.
Deputy PM Quang is scheduled to deliver a speech at the opening session of SPIEF 2024 on Wednesday.
On the same day, the forum will have a dozen discussion sessions covering diverse topics, such as ‘Eco-friendly Retail and E-commerce: Commerce as an Agent of Sustainable Change,’ ‘Self-employed: Entrepreneur or Not?,’ ‘Advertising: The Art of Attracting Attention,’ and ‘Every Startup Must Dream of Becoming a Unicorn,’ to name a few.
As part of their activities in the event, Vietnamese business representatives will provide the forum with information about Vietnam's high resilience and ability to achieve set goals in all conditions, especially in today's changing world conditions.
The forum’s plenary session will take place on Friday, featuring a speech by Russian President Vladimir Putin.
During the four-day forum, about 200 business events will be held, with the presence of more than 1,500 experts and speakers.
These events are divided into four main groups, including ‘The Transition to a Multipolar World Economy,’ ‘Goals and Objectives of Russia’s New Economic Cycle,’ ‘A Healthy Society, Traditional Values and Social Development: The Priority of the State,’ and ‘Technologies for Leadership,’ the forum’s website said.
The activities of the International Youth Economic Forum, the Roscongress Foundation’s Urban Hub discussion platform for urbanism and the VinoGrad thematic platform will also be held on the sidelines of SPIEF, according to Russia’s leading news agency TASS.
As one of the biggest and most important business events in the world, SPIEF has consolidated its status as a leading international event centering on key issues on the global economic agenda over the past 27 years.
“SPIEF is the leading platform for discussing issues of international development. It is here that opinions are exchanged and cooperation ties are established,” Kobyakov said.
Despite the global economy’s turbulence, last year’s forum clearly showed that many countries are ready to build bridges of understanding and cooperation, he stressed.
SPIEF has been held annually since 1997, and since 2006, it has been organized under the auspices of the President of the Russian Federation, who has attended each event.
At SPIEF 2023, over 900 agreements worth more than 3,800 billion Russian rubles (about US$42 billion) were signed.
