Shares decline on selling pressure

Việt Nam's stock market declined on Tuesday morning as investors sold large-cap stocks.

On the Ho Chi Minh stock Exchange (HoSE), the VN-Index closed at 1,229.43 points, down 0.08 per cent. The market breadth turned negative with 93 stocks jumping while 309 stocks declined.

The market liquidity was low than Monday as nearly 471.7 million shares were traded on HoSE, worth over VND13 trillion.

The index's fall was due to losses in large-cap stocks, especially bank stocks. The 30 biggest stocks tracker, VN30-Index, lost 0.06 per cent to 1,311.44 points.

Of the VN30 basket, twenty stocks decreased while only nine rose.

Many big stocks from banking sectors decreased this morning such as Techcombank (TCB), VPBank (VPBB), MBBank (MBB), and Sacombank (STB).

On the Ha Noi stock Exchange (HNX), the HNX-Index also lost 1.65 per cent to 277.10 points.
