Market recovers on bank stocks

Việt Nam's stock market rose on Wednesday morning as investors returned to pay attention to banking sectors.

 

On the Ho Chi Minh stock Exchange (HoSee), the VN-Index was traded at 1,228.77 points, up 0.74 per cent. The market breadth turned positive with 252 stocks jumping while 126 stocks declined.

The market liquidity was higher than yesterday as nearly 386 million shares were traded on HoSE, worth over VND9.2 trillion.

The index's rally was boosted by gains in large-cap stocks, especially bank stocks. The 30 biggest stocks tracker, VN30-Index, climbed 0.77 per cent to 1,293.75 points.

Of the VN30 basket, twenty stocks increased while only eight fell.

Many big stocks from banking sectors posted good performance this morning such as Techcombank (TCB), VPBank (VPBB), MBBank (MBB), and Sacombank (STB).

These stocks all jumped more than 1 per cent in the morning session.

Other stocks from real estate and materials also contributed to the market gains like Vietnam Rubber Group (GVR) and Vinhomes JSC (VHM) with GVR hitting the maximum daily gain of 7 per cent.

On the Ha Noi stock Exchange (HNX), the HNX-Index also rose 0.2 per cent to 281.12 points. The HNX30-Index increased 0.6 per cent to 418.03 points.
