Nguyen Dinh Khuyen, chairman of Tay Ho District People's Committee, on Monday said the unnamed business, which provides catering services on the islet, has been fined by authorities of Nhat Tan Ward for violating Covid-19 prevention measures.

Around 200 people were seen gathering in a garden on the islet over the weekend, not abiding by social distancing measures nor wearing masks.

They were seen buying drinks and food items from the business on the islet.

"If the violation was to reoccur, the business would be suspended from operation," Khuyen said.

Amid Vietnam's latest Covid-19 wave, multiple localities have rolled out coronavirus prevention measures like social distancing or suspension of non-essential services. Hanoi has requested citizens to not go out unnecessarily and stay at least a meter apart from each other, besides other restrictions like shutting down bars, dance clubs and gyms.

Hanoi has recorded 110 local Covid-19 cases while the nation as a whole has recorded 2,254 in 30 cities and provinces since late last month.
