Bac Kan touts rural industrial products
The Bac Kan Department of Industry and Trade has been supporting the northeastern province’s rural industrial products with funding for management technology, product promotion and market searches.
Bac Kan currently has five products certified as outstanding rural industrial products, including Nhat Thien Ba Be Vermicelli, Chinh Tuyen Vermicelli, Trinh Nang Curcumin, Trinh Nang Gac (a Vietnamese fruit) and Bac Kan Curcumin Pure. Nhat Thien Ba Be Vermicelli and Bac Kan Curcumin Pure are also certified as national outstanding rural industrial products.
According to the Bac Kan Department of Industry and Trade, these products have high economic value and many support activities have been implemented over the years to increase their value further.
Specifically, the provincial Industry and Trade Promotion Center supports a showroom to introduce Nhat Thien Ba Be Vermicelli products of the household business of Nguyen Van Thien. In addition, the center supports the construction of smart sales management software for the Bac Kan Joint Stock Company, the unit that produces the Bac Kan Curcumin Pure. The software helps businesses reduce 30 percent of data manipulation and management and 30 percent of lost goods, and save operating costs, including staff hiring costs. The management software also helps modernize sales tools and improve service quality.

The center also supports the participation of outstanding rural industrial products in domestic fairs and exhibitions, gives priority to introducing these products into modern consumption channels such as supermarkets or distribution points. As a result, a number of establishments with recognized products certified as regional outstanding rural industrial products have signed a cooperation agreement, devoting considerable resources to disseminating information introducing the province’s outstanding rural industrial products to consumers inside and outside the province.
The provincial support activities have also increased efficiency as reflected in business results and the recognition of beneficiaries.
However, according to a representative of the Bac Kan Department of Industry and Trade, rural industrial establishments in the province are still small in scale and production is still heavily manual, undermining their competitiveness and making it difficult to select eligible program beneficiaries and ensure project effectiveness.
In order to mobilize resources to invest in the development of industrial production, including investment in developing typical rural industrial products, the department encourages organizations and individuals to participate in industrial and handicraft production in a sustainable way and improve the competitiveness of rural industrial products.
