Shares continue to drop on large-cap stocks

The market fell on Wednesday morning as big stocks across all sectors lost points.

On the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange (HoSE), the VN-Index declined by 4.58 points, or 0.37 per cent, to 1,243.75 points. The market breadth was still negative as 285 stocks slid.

However, the market's liquidity stayed high with over 566.77 million shares being traded on the southern bourse in the morning session, worth over VND12.5 trillion.

The VN30-Index also posted losses of 0.07 per cent to 1,276.42 points. Of the 30 biggest stocks in VN30 basket, twenty stocks fell while only seven stocks increased.

Many big stocks, especially in the real estate and construction sector, fell sharply. Of which, Vinhomes JSC (VHM) witnessed the biggest loss in market capitalisation, down 3.61 per cent. Vingroup JSC (VIC) shares also reversed recent course to fall 0.5 per cent this morning.

Stocks in materials, banking, information technology, transportation and logistics, and retail also reduced.

On the Ha Noi Stock Exchange (HNX), the HNX-Index declined 0.27 per cent to 291.4 points despite gains in the northern market's large-cap tracker HNX30-Index. The index increased 0.05 per cent to 441.91 points.
