Shares fall on large-cap stocks

Shares retreated on Tuesday morning due to the declines of large-cap stocks.

On the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange (HoSE), the VN-Index lost 0.47 per cent, to 1,162.78 points.

The market breadth was negative with 293 stocks dropping, while 158 stocks increased.

The decline was due to the fall of pillar stocks. The 30 large-cap tracker VN30-Index decreased 0.5 per cent, to 1,164.17 points. Twenty-two of 30 large-cap stocks fell, while only 7 increased.

During the morning session, more than 505 million shares were traded on the southern bourse, worth over VNĐ11.5 trillion.

The market was strongly weighed down by the large-caps, including VPBank (VPB), Vinhomes (VHM), Techcombank (TCB), HDBank (HDB), Novaland (NVL), Becamex (BCM) and Asia Commercial Bank (ACB).

On the Ha Noi Stock Exchange (HNX), the HNX-Index also lost 0.75 per cent to reach 265.39 points.
