Shares decline as pillars lose ground

Shares declined on Friday morning due to the losses of large-cap stocks.

 

On the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange (HoSE), the market benchmark VN-Index decreased 0.62 per cent to end the morning session at 1,158.15 points.

Nearly 342.3 million shares were traded on the southern exchange, worth VNĐ9.1 trillion (US$392.7 million).

The market breadth was negative with 141 stocks climbing, while 294 declined.

The VN30-Index lost 0.65 per cent to 1,162.20 points.

Twenty four of 30 biggest stocks decreased in the morning trading session, while sixteen stocks increased.

The stocks witnessing the biggest losses this morning were PetroVietnam Gas JSC (GAS), Vinhomes (VHM), Vingroup (VIC), Vietcombank (VCB) and VPBank (VPB).

On the Ha Noi Stock Exchange, the HNX-Index rose 2.06 per cent to 251.26 points.
