Yen Bai Province encourages investment in agricultural processing
Promotion activities have contributed to industrial development in the northeastern province of Yen Bai, especially to rural industry.
Industry promotion activities boost outstanding local products

According to the Yen Bai Province Department of Industry and Trade, in the 2016-2020 period, the industry promotion program deployed 126 projects and supported 132 rural industrial establishments with a budget of over VND208.29 billion, VND24.2 billion of it from the state and VND184 billion from rural industrial establishments. The capital was used to help businesses in producing tea, cinnamon, cinnamon essential oil, plantation timber and building materials, promoting their products, increasing incomes and creating jobs for over 2,000 local direct workers and thousands of indirect workers.
Over the past five years, the provincial Department of Industry and Trade supported construction of five technical demonstration models using new techniques and technologies, 129 rural industrial establishments in transferring technology and applying advanced machines, scientific and technical advances to production. It also encouraged mechanization in craft production in order to increase productivity and product quality. In addition, the department also encouraged industrial establishments to not only invest in processing agricultural and forest products, but also produce, process and repair agricultural machinery, and produce consumer and export goods.
The industry promotion program also supports outstanding rural industrial products through fairs, exhibitions and awards. Yen Bai has honored 40 outstanding rural industrial products of high quality. One product, the Tuyet Son tea of the Suoi Giang Tea Cooperative in Van Chan District was honored as an outstanding rural industrial product in 2017.
In the 2016-2020 period, the department supported the participation of nearly 100 rural industrial establishments in domestic and foreign trade fairs, the establishment of showrooms to introduce and advertise industrial and craft products. It also organized five tour groups to survey and learn from the experience of its industry promotion models, opened four training courses on business administration and business start-ups for 200 trainees, supported three vocational training classes in order to improve skills for nearly 100 rural workers, consulted and assisted 50 managers, technicians, and owners of rural industrial establishments to improve production and business capacity.
In the 2021-2025 period, the Yen Bai industry and trade sector strives to build 10-15 technical demonstration and technology transfer models, apply about 150 pieces of advanced machinery and equipment in handicraft and industrial production, and support construction of a pollution treatment system for 20 rural industrial establishments. In addition, the sector also strives to organize at least two votes for outstanding rural industrial products, support 10 rural industrial establishments in building product trademark registration, as well as support the participation of rural industrial establishments in about 20 domestic fairs and exhibitions. Plans also call for building infrastructure for five industrial clusters and vocational training for about 500 workers.
Industry promotion activities have not only increased the value of rural industrial production and created jobs for rural workers, but also contributed to eliminating hunger and reducing poverty, and reshaping and restructuring the countryside. |
