The award, approved by the prime minister, honours businesses that have improved productivity, quality, performance, and significantly contributed to society and sustainable economic development in all areas.

C.P. Vietnam president Montri Suwanposri, vice president Vu Anh Tuan, and assistant vice president Worawit Arunraksa attended the ceremony, receiving flowers and a certificate from the chairman of the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) Vu Tien Loc, under the witness of Vice State President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh and representatives of ministries and agencies.

“We thank the Vietnam Business Council for Sustainable Development for reviewing 500 companies’ applications in accordance with the 127 indices of the Corporate Sustainability Index (CSI), covering all areas like business, and social, and environmental performance to pick the most sustainable companies of Vietnam,” said Suwanposri.

“This is the third consecutive year that C.P. Vietnam is listed among the 100 most sustainable companies, and the first time in the Top 10 in the manufacturing sector. These achievements could not have been reached without the consistent efforts of all C.P. Vietnam staff.”

Business strategies of the company closely related to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations. Besides transferring technology and know-how on sustainable agriculture to locals, as well as training initiatives, C.P. Vietnam is following a circular economy model to minimise its environmental footprint, all while earning significant gains.

Additionally, company employees are engaging in social activities like voluntary blood donation and building gratitude houses. Throughout the pandemic, C.P. Vietnam has provided medical masks and food for free, and during the floods last month, the company also visited and supported numerous people in districts and provinces that suffered serious damage.

C.P. Vietnam’s Arunraksa said that the CSI is a measure of a company’s economic, environmental, and social values. “Such indices are useful to evaluate the performance and responsibilities of companies, as well as remind them to do business more sustainably,” he said.

Doing business and expanding in Vietnam, C.P. has been raising awareness of the importance and benefits of sustainable development for communities and society, by learning from the good practices of partners and applying CSI in all business and manufacturing activities.

Along with the 130 businesses named at the ceremony, C.P. Vietnam is "one of the pioneers in the business community who are taking on the challenge of a difficult but promising journey, while encouraging the green and sustainable economic development of Vietnam,” explained VCCI chairman Loc.
