The Korea-Tra Vinh wind power plant was finished months before schedule

With the total investment capital of over VND2.4 trillion ($104.35 million), the Korea-Tra Vinh wind power plant covers about 1,200 hectares of water surface and land area.

It has 12 turbines with a capacity of 48MW, producing 155 million kW of electricity annually. Khang Duc Investment & Construction JSC, which won the contract for the delivery of the civil balance of plant (CboP), has completed the project two months ahead of schedule.

Nguyen Van Tan, general director of Khang Duc Investment & Construction, said that many near-shore wind power projects are behind schedule. This is mainly due to inexperienced contractors and a lack of underwater construction equipment.

He noted that the Korea-Tra Vinh wind power plant was completed two months ahead of the original schedule for many reasons. First, the leaders and staff of Khang Duc have extensive experience in developing maritime construction projects and working with international partners. The company also has a deep understanding of underwater construction equipment to ensure the smooth development of the project.

In addition to these strengths, Khang Duc manages all phases of the project from design to construction so it can maintain consistent quality and keep track of the project.

Khang Duc is making heavy investment in new construction equipment with a view to becoming a leading engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) general contractor for marine projects. The company is preparing to launch three piling vessels in December 2020. These vessels are designed to drive the longest piles in the Vietnamese market, which will help Khang Duc triple construction productivity in one fell swoop.

With its advantages in both people and equipment, Khang Duc plans to construct 2-3 near-shore wind power projects in 2021. The company is confident to complete the instalment of 18-24 turbine foundations within seven months of the calm ocean season. There are very few contractors in the Vietnamese market that can match this capability.
