Vietnamese tech firm joins global AI ecosystem

As Việt Nam accelerates the adoption of AI, the challenge is shifting from simply accessing advanced models to deploying them securely and effectively within organisations' existing systems, data and workflows.

EON Tech, a Vietnamese technology start-up, has been recognised by OpenAI as an OpenAI Select Partner, becoming one of two Vietnamese companies alongside FPT to publicly announce the partnership.

As Việt Nam accelerates the adoption of AI, the challenge is shifting from simply accessing advanced models to deploying them securely and effectively within organisations' existing systems, data and workflows.

The development is in line with Politburo's Resolution 57-NQ/TW, which sets a goal for Việt Nam to rank among the three leading countries in Southeast Asia in AI research and development by 2030 and develop selected digital technology industries in which the country has strengths.

In June, OpenAI announced the OpenAI Partner Network, a global network of technology partners supporting AI deployment under stringent standards. OpenAI said it is investing US$150 million in the ecosystem this year, and aims to build a network of 300,000 professionals.

Both EON Tech and FPT have announced their OpenAI Select Partner status.

The participation of Vietnamese firms in the global AI ecosystem reflects the growing role of domestic technology companies in the AI value chain, beyond simply using ready-made tools.

AI adoption in Việt Nam is also expanding from individual experimentation and chatbots to practical applications, such as document retrieval and summarisation, drafting, data analysis, information processing and workflow integration.

At scale, however, AI deployment raises issues in data security, user access, cost control and accountability for AI-generated content. These concerns are particularly important for Government agencies, State-owned enterprises and organisations managing large volumes of internal data.

AI gateways are emerging as one solution. Acting as a central access point, they allow organisations to manage multiple AI platforms and models while controlling users, data, costs and permissions through a unified system.

EON Tech is developing its EONSR AI Gateway to help organisations centrally manage multiple AI platforms. Its OpenAI Select Partner status adds access to the OpenAI ecosystem to the company's AI infrastructure strategy.

The company is also conducting AI training and capacity-building programmes for large enterprises, State-owned enterprises and public-sector organisations, with a focus on practical use, data security and human accountability.

The growing participation of Vietnamese companies in global AI ecosystems could help bridge international technology and domestic demand, with local firms playing a greater role in adapting AI to the data, systems and operational needs of Vietnamese organisations.
