Banking stocks push market up

Shares advanced on Friday morning thanks to the support of rising banking stocks.

 

The VN-Index on the Hồ Chí Minh Stock Exchange increased 0.3 per cent to close morning session at 921.61 points.

Nearly 215.9 million shares were traded on the southern exchange, worth VNĐ3.7 trillion (US$160 million).

Market breadth was positive with 193 gainers and 171 decliners.

The large-cap tracker VN30-Index rose 0.39 per cent to 873.22 points with 16 of the 30 largest stocks by market value and trading liquidity rising.

Banking stocks added a boost to the market’s uptrend with notable gainers of Vietinbank (CTG), Sacombank (STB), Techcombank (TCB) and VPBank (VPB)

On the Ha Noi Stock Exchange, the HNX-Index was up 1.03 per cent to close Friday morning at 137.01 points.

More than 27.2 million shares were traded on the northern exchange, worth VNĐ1.4 trillion.
