Stock market kicks off week on a positive note

Financial stocks continued their rallies on Monday morning, pulling up indices on both national stock exchanges.

 

On the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange, the VN-Index increased 0.38 per cent to 911.72 per cent.

The HNX-Index on the Ha Noi Stock Exchange rose 1.19 per cent to 133.09 points.

Bank stocks led the market uptrend as 10 of total 13 listed lenders gained value while only one declined (Vietcombank edged down 0.12 per cent).

Sacombank was the biggest gainer, climbing 5.3 per cent. Others such as Vietinbank, BIDV, Tecombank (TCH), Military Bank and Tien Phong Bank increased between 1.5 per cent and 3.6 per cent.

Shares of securities companies also grew, with the two biggest by market value – Saigon Securities Inc and Ho Chi Minh Securities Corp – rising respectively 2.3 per cent and 1.5 per cent.

A total of 271.2 million shares worth VND4.4 trillion (US$190 million) were traded on the two markets this morning.
