Shares recover on the rise of large-cap stocks
Vietnamese shares recovered on Friday morning thanks to the growth of some individual large-cap stocks.
The benchmark VN-Index in the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange gained 0.05 per cent to close at 909.01 points.
It had lost 0.43 per cent to close Thursday trading at 908.58 points.
More than 182.1 million shares were traded on the southern bourse, worth VND3 trillion (US$129.7 million).
Market breadth was negative with 226 decliners and 148 gainers.
The VN30-Index, which tracks the performance of the 30 largest stocks by market capitalisation and liquidity on HoSE, increased 0.05 per cent to close Friday morning at 853.63 points.
In the VN-30 basket, 23 stocks lost ground and six increased while one remained flat.
The growth of some individual stocks helped the market recover and stay positive, such as Sabeco (SAB), Vinhomes (VHM), Vingroup (VIC) and Vinamilk.
The minor HNX-Index on the Ha Noi Stock Exchange lost 0.30 per cent to end Friday morning at 131.31 points.
More than 22 million shares were traded on the northern exchange, worth VND286 billion.
