Deputy Minister of Health Truong Quoc Cuong, said that this is an important milestone marking a new breakthrough in digital transformation in the pharmaceutical industry, aiming to further facilitate business activities and increase people’s satisfaction, increase transparency in state management.

In line with the Resolution No.52-NQ/TW dated September 27, 2019 on the policies on taking initiatives in participation in Industry 4.0 and Decision No.749/QD-TTg dated June 3, 2020 approving the National Digital Transformation Programme by 2025, the Drug Administration of Vietnam (DAV) has completed and supplies 93 level 4 online public services integrated into the Ministry of Health’s (MoH) Public Service Portal.

In August 2019, the DAV launched drugbank.vn covering information about more than 10,000 drugs. Up till now, the drugbank has updated the data of 15,226 drugs licensed to circulate in Vietnam. With this launch, the DAV has become one of the few national pharmaceutical management agencies worldwide having such a drugbank.

The DAV also builds software to manage the data of pharmaceutical trading units (340 manufacturing units, exports and imports, 4,079 wholesale units, and 61.000 drugstores, and 115,080 practicing certificates nationwide).

Since early 2020, with the serious developments of COVID-19, the DAV has collaborated with relevant units to build software to enable manufacturers and importers to make regular reports about their import, export, and manufacturing plans.

In the coming time, the DAV will continue to increase technology application to connect with plants so as to manage data of about 700 active elements used in drug production in Vietnam and apply the advanced technologies of Industry 4.0 such IoT, big data, analytics, and AI to successfully promote digital transformation in the industry while strengthening international cooperation in the field.
