Shares rebound after three declining sessions
Shares rebounded on Tuesday morning after three consecutive falling sessions as pillar stocks attracted cash flow and support the indexes.
The benchmark VN-Index on the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange rose 0.42 per cent to close at 1,021.00 points on Tuesday morning.
More than 102.8 million shares were traded on the southern bourse, worth VND2 trillion (US$85.5 million).
After three consecutive correcting sessions, the VN-Index recovered as a series of pillar stocks increased. Bank for Investment and Development of Việt Nam (BID) rose by 2 per cent to VND42,100. Brewery Sabeco (SAB) gained 1.06 per cent. PetroVietnam Gas Joint Stock Corporation (GAS) was up 1.1 per cent and Viet Nam National Petroleum Group (PLX) climbed 1.5 per cent.
On the down side, dairy firm Vinamilk (VNM) dropped by 1 per cent.
On the Ha Noi Stock Exchange, the HNX-Index gained 0.11 per cent to end at 106.88 points on Tuesday morning.
More than 14.7 million shares were traded on the northern bourse, worth VND145 billion.
The afternoon trading session begins at 1pm.
