HDBank – First Vietnamese bank to receive Green Deal Award from ADB

In Singapore, HDBank is the only bank amongst the financial institutions participating in the 2019 Trade Finance Program that has been honoured with the Green Deal Award from ADB, becoming Vietnam's first in this category.

The Green Deal Award is first such award initiated by the ADB to celebrate banks with notable achievements in green finance while participating in the ADB Trade Finance Program (TFP). HDBank is delighted to be the sole Vietnamese bank in this year’s list of honours.

With hundreds of millions of US dollars distributed in the form of trade finance for multiple solar power projects, HDBank's transactions have not only played a vital part in the growth of the green business community, but also in realising Vietnam's renewable energy development strategy.

TFP is a global trade finance programme from ADB which provides guarantees and loans to 240 worldwide participating financial institutions in support of small- and medium-d enterprises. The participating financial institutions must meet all requirements set by the ADB, including operational efficiency, financial health, risk management, information transparency, development strategy, leadership, and vision. In fact, HDBank is amongst an assorted list of ADB participating financial institutions in Vietnam for providing guarantees and loans.

The bank is strategically aiming for green banking, of which green credit, where financed businesses do not only care for business performance but also environmental impacts, is currently on the rise. With the aim of becoming a leading SME, retail, and consumer financing bank, HDBank has been actively refining its exclusive ecosystem of banking, finance, retailing, supermarket, and telecommunications, among others.

Prior to the Green Deal Award from ADB, HDBank has been a serial recipient of many distinguished and prestigious awards at home and abroad, including the Labour Order Second Class, Best Managed Company in Asia, Top 6 Profitable Listed Banks, Top 5 Fastest-Growing Banks, Best Cash Management and Best Trade Finance in Asia-Pacific, 2019 Mid-d Domestic Retail Bank of the Year, and Best Companies to Work for in Asia for two consecutive years, to name but a few. The Bank is also given a B1-rating by Moody’s Investors Service.
