Central Group orders goods from 50 local apparel producers again

Central Group, owner of the Big C supermarket chain, pledged to place goods orders from 50 out of 200 textile and garment firms again, stated Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Do Thang Hai at a regular press briefing in Hanoi today, July 4.

Hai said the outcome was from a meeting earlier among representatives of the ministry and Central Group, and Thai Ambassador to Vietnam Tanee Sangrat.

In the next two weeks, the group will work closely with the remaining firms to place orders with 100 other suppliers. It noted that the remaining producers have yet to meet their commitments, on par with their contracts’ requirements, so careful scrutiny is needed.
