Chinese, Taiwanese exhibitors dominate MTA Vietnam
MTA Vietnam, an international exhibition on precision engineering, machine tools and metalworking, kicked off at HCMC’s Saigon Exhibition and Convention Center on July 2, with most enterprises coming from China and Taiwan.
According to Informa Markets Vietnam, which is organizing the event, of the 500 enterprises from 22 countries and territories participating in the expo, 100 are from China and 80 from Taiwan.
The 17th edition of the MTA Vietnam, which lasts until July 5, also features a large number of exhibitors from Japan and Germany, at 39 and 32 firms, respectively.
Karen Pai from the Taiwan External Trade Development Council said that Taiwan’s machine tools have been exported to more than 138 countries and territories and Vietnam is one of its key markets.
In the first five months of the year, Taiwan’s machine tool exports to Vietnam surged over 54% during the same period last year. This explains the large number of Taiwanese firms that have brought their products and technologies to the exhibition, remarked Pai.
Meanwhile, Shinji Hirai, head of the representative office of the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) in HCMC, said that this is the 13th consecutive year that JETRO has hosted a Japanese pavilion at MTA Vietnam. Covering 216 square meters, the Japanese pavilion this year is the largest since 2007, featuring metal-shaping machines, measuring tools, molds and accessories from 24 companies.
At the MTA Vietnam last year, Japanese firms signed multiple contracts to provide equipment to Vietnamese partners.
BT Tee, general director of Informa Markets Vietnam, said the fourth Industrial Revolution is no longer a new trend but has developed across the world. MTA Vietnam 2019 will help Vietnamese businesses access modern equipment and technology.
A designated zone called “We Are Industry 4.0 Ready” is being featured for the first time at the event, attracting 22 exhibitors, such as 3D Smart, Amada, Nikon and Beijing Jingdiao.
Further, the expo also includes 14 group pavilions from countries known for their high-quality precision engineering products, such as the United Kingdom, Germany, Japan, South Korea and Thailand.
