Bamboo Airways seeks to annually train 3,500 employees
Bamboo Airways has started work on its aviation training institute in the central province of Binh Dinh, aiming to train nearly 3,500 students per year, focusing on professional skills for pilots, flight attendants, aviation technology, ground operations and basic training.
At the groundbreaking ceremony for the institute, held in Binh Dinh on July 28, Dang Tat Thang, vice president of Bamboo Airways, said the institute will cover some 10 hectares of land and require an estimated investment of nearly VND700 billion (US$30.2 million) for the establishment and development phase, news site Vietnamplus reported.
The training institute will apply modern educational administration models, meeting high standards for training quality issued by the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam, the European Union Aviation Safety Agency, the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration and the International Air Transport Association.
Once in place, the institute is expected to become Vietnam’s leading aviation training center, contributing to increasing the localization rate of the sector’s personnel, reducing dependence on foreign partners, improving the local aviation sector’s competitiveness and ensuring the sustainable development of the sector.
Speaking at the ceremony, Binh Dinh Chairman Ho Quoc Dung noted that the high-quality training center in the province would raise its competitiveness.
The province will create the most favorable conditions for Bamboo Airways as well as FLC Group, the parent company of Bamboo Airways, to execute projects there in line with the law, Dung added.
During the ceremony, Bamboo Airways signed a memorandum of understanding on pilot recruitment and training with New Zealand Aviation Academy.
The airline also concluded another memorandum of understanding on aviation training with University of Engineering and Technology, an arm of Vietnam National University, Hanoi, to assist students of the university with applying for jobs at Bamboo Airways.
In addition, the institute will cooperate with FLC University to train staff in transport administration, international aviation operations, airport management and flight operations, marketing and advertising.
Besides the Bamboo Airways aviation training institute in Binh Dinh Province, the air carrier has plans to develop other institutes in Quang Ninh, Haiphong and Vinh Phuc.
