Carmaker to export equipment, trailers to North America
The Truong Hai Automobile Company (Thaco) has signed an agreement with CEMEX, a Mexican multinational building material firm, and Green Trailer & Equipment Corp, a Texas-based sales company in the Over-The-Road trailer industry, to manufacture and export ready-mix-concrete equipment and semi-trailers to North America.
A representative of the automobile maker in Quang Nam Province said the first shipment of the ready-mix-concrete containers and semi-trailers (which will be installed on trucks) will be delivered to Mexico and North America next month.
Thaco said at least 1,000 pieces of equipment will be manufactured at the trailer and special vehicles factory in the Quang Nam-based Thaco-Chu Lai Mechanical Automotive industrial park.
In 2017 and 2018, Thaco exported more 100 semi-trailers to Columbia and other South American markets.
Columbia and South America have been major export markets for Thaco since 2016 when it debuted its special vehicle factory with a capacity of 5,000 products per year.
Thaco exports its locally manufactured cars and buses to Laos, Cambodia, Thailand, the Philippines and Myanmar, and accessories and spare parts to Korea, Malaysia, Russia and Kazakhstan.
The automobile maker acquired a 51 per cent share in Korean Soosung Motor Technology company to produce cranes, dumps, concrete mixer trucks and tankers in Korea in 2013.
Thaco has manufactured and distributed vehicles of foreign brands like Kia of South Korea, Mazda of Japan, BMW of Germany, and Peugeot of France.
