PM calls for stronger efforts to develop auto sector
Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has urged domestic auto manufacturers and relevant authorities to make more efforts to boost the development of the local auto sector, especially supporting industries, the Government news website reported.
At a meeting on March 12, PM Phuc said the Government has set up strategies to develop the local auto sector, encouraging domestic firms to manufacture autos at home rather than depending on auto imports.
Also, local firms should invest more in auto supporting industries to increase the added values of automotive engines and accessories.
Despite hailing the contribution of large auto firms to the State budget, job creation and infrastructure development, the Government leader urged local auto manufacturers to further promote innovation.
Further, it is crucial to intensify cooperation with relevant agencies and apply advanced technologies in manufacturing, Phuc said, adding that domestic manufacturers should focus on training skilful engineers as well.
Moreover, they should study the demands of consumers in different regions and draw up export plans, while paying attention to environmental protection.
PM Phuc also called on the relevant ministries, agencies and localities to issue appropriate policies to ensure sustainable development. Localities should also assist auto firms to overcome obstacles.
He stressed that the Government would continue offering favorable conditions for auto manufacturers in line with international practices, with an aim to benefit local consumers.
