Ben Tre promotes OCOP products in HCMC

More than 120 products of the Mekong Delta province of Ben Tre’s “One Commune, One Product” (OCOP) program are being introduced at a fair that opened in HCMC today, January 24.

This is the first time Ben Tre has promoted products from its OCOP program in HCMC.

The fair, being held at Big C An Lac supermarket in Binh Tan District until January 29, features 100 booths displaying specialties from Ben Tre such as coconut jam, dried fish and green-skin grapefruit; ornamental plants; handicraft products; rice; and seafood among others.

Ben Tre Vice Chairman Nguyen Huu Lap remarked that the OCOP program would help the province achieve its targets, contributing to the successful execution of the national target program on new rural development.

The fair is the first activity on the OCOP program agenda of the province this year to promote its production activities, tourism and other services to raise local farmers’ income.

Within the framework of the fair, Central Group Vietnam, the owner of the Big C supermarket chain, will organize conferences on demand and supply connections and requirements for products to be distributed in its supermarkets, opening up opportunities for OCOP products from Ben Tre and other localities to enter Big C supermarkets.
