PM sets up national committee on e-Gov
Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc on Tuesday signed a decision to establish a National Committee on E-Government – a step closer to realising Viet Nam’s ambition of streamlining Government procedures with online technologies.
PM Phuc will act as the committee chairman while Deputy PM Vu Duc Dam will be the committee deputy chairman.
Members of the committee include ten top cabinet officials with ministers of Public Security, Information and Communiciations, Finance, Planning and Investment, Education and Training, Science and Technology and Natural Resources and Environment; two deputy ministers of Home Affairs, and Information and Communications and head of the Government’s Department of Information Security.
Leaders of big enterprises will also be a part of the committee in question. They include chairmen of the two communications giants Viettel and VNPT, chairman of the Viet Nam Post and chairman of the information technology giant FPT.
The new committee will replace the current National Committee on Application of Information Technology, showing the Government’s determination to wholly transform the way the governmental system works.
According to the PM’s decision, the newly-established committee is responsible for researching and proposing to the Government strategies and policies to create a legal environment favourable to building and developing e-Government which will then pave the way for a digital Government, digital economy and digital society.
It will also hand out missions to local authorities and monitor their work to thoroughly develop the e-Government system from local to central levels.
