Investors cautious on both bourses

Shares managed to gain on Tuesday morning but investors showed cautioun towards the current trading outlook.

 

The benchmark VN Index on the HCM Stock Exchange rose 0.23 per cent to close at 994.20 points. It rose 0.49 per cent on Monday.

The HNX Index on the Ha Noi Stock Exchange gained 0.52 per cent to end at 112.20 points. It increased 3.33 per cent on Monday.

More than 1118.5 million shares were exchanged on the two bourses, worth VND2.5 trillion (US$109 million).

Market trading was negative with 172 gaining stocks and 208 decliners.

Among the best-performing sectors were securities, mining, construction material and finance. Those sector indices were up slightly between 0.2 per cent and 1.7 per cent, data on vietstock.vn showed.

The blue-chip VN30 Index, which tracks the 30 largest shares by market capitalisation, was up 0.46 per cent to 970.96 points.

Among the gainers were budget carrier Vietjet (VJC), VPBank (VPB), Vietcombank (VCB), Saigon Securities Incorporation (SSI), Masan Group (MSN) and Mobile World Group (MWG).

Investors showed caution, with trading slow as many expected a sell-off.

The afternoon trading session starts at 1pm.
