Ha Noi seeks support over smart city initiative
Chairman of Ha Noi People’s Committee, Nguyen Duc Chung, on Tuesday worked with the Asian-Oceanian Computing Industry Organisation (ASOCIO) to turn the capital into a smart city.
Ha Noi has been working towards its smart city initiative since 2014.
Besides working with ASOCIO, an ICT federation organised by ICT associations from 21 member economies in the Asia Pacific region, to boost co-operation in developing e-government in the capital city, Chung said that the city had made significant efforts during the past years to build infrastructure. He said the city was seeking to hasten co-operation with both foreign and domestic firms and organisations, including ASOCIO, to speed up the development of a smart city.
The capital city has attached special attention to the establishment of a database as well as application of information and technology in operating transport, fire prevention, data analysis and system security.
During the past two years, Ha Noi installed a prevalent network system from the municipal level to 584 wards and communes to support the administrative reform, and to provide online public services for the local people. In addition, the city was also working to build the country’s largest database centres in Ha Noi.
The capital city also hastened co-operation in developing software for building smart cities, such as a smart parking system and an energy light saving system.
According to David Wong, president of ASOCIO, the association wanted to organise a conference in Ha Noi in 2018 to share their experience in building a smart city. Ha Noi could learn from their experience, he said.
ASOCIO, with proactive members like Japan, South Korea, Malaysia and India, had organised a number of conferences to introduce its smart city index, measures for the appication of IT in management.
