HNX nets $107mn in auctions this year

In the first five months of this year, auctions held on the Ha Noi Stock Exchange (HNX) raised VND2.42 trillion (US$107 million), a year on year increase of 24 per cent.

A total of 180.7 million shares were put up for sale, of which 175.6 million shares, or 97 per cent of the total amount, were sold.

Out of 18 auctions, 15 sold out 100 per cent of the shares offered.

The number of investors attending the auction reached some 2,222 investors, a year on year increase of 19 per cent.

More than 425 million shares were ordered, 2.35 times higher than the volume of shares offered for sale.

The public auction of Viglacera Corporation JSC in May attracted up to 1,026 investors, reaching a record in the past five years.

Foreign investors were especially interested in Viglacera’s shares. The bid volume of foreign investors in this session was 2.6 times higher than the 120 million shares offered for sale. As a result, the auction collected over VND1.9 trillion by selling 120 million shares, of which foreign investors bought 109 million shares, equivalent to 91.65 per cent of the total shares.

By June 13, 2017, HNX held a total of 18 share auctions, including four initial public offering (IPO) sessions for State-owned enterprises (SOEs), 13 divestments of corporations, SOEs in joint stock companies and one public issuance.
