Work begins on $80 million wind project
Viet Nam’s TSV Investment JSC and Singapore’s wind energy developer The Blue Circle kicked off construction of Dam Nai wind project in Ninh Thuan Province on Friday.
The project, on 9.6ha, is set to have capacity of 40 MW with total investment of some US$80 million.
Construction will take place in two phases, the first phase expected to be completed and put into operation in October 2017, with the second scheduled to be operational in October 2018.
Speaking at the ceremony, TSV’s chairman Do Van Dien said that the G114-2.625 MW turbine will be the first Gamesa turbine supplied to the wind power plant and the largest wind turbine in the country so far.
In October 2017, the joint venture will put into operation three turbines with a capacity of about 8 MW. After the completion of the first three turbines, the remaining 13 will be built, with all 16 turbines set to be operational by October 2018, Dien added.
Investors also plan to recruit local labour and fulfill the corporation’s social responsibilities in the project area.
The Blue Circle has a total of 1,658 MW of projects in development in five countries with offices in Singapore, Bangkok and HCM City. Dam Nai will become its first operational project.
