Shares edge down on fear of renewed correction

Stock indices tread water on Thursday morning owing to market divergence.

 

On the HCM Stock Exchange, the VN Index remained unchanged at 709.5 points, while the HNX Index on the Hà Nội Stock Exchange went down 0.04 per cent to 86.6 points.

The performance of blue chips was mixed.

Budget airline Vietjet was trading 7 per cent higher at VND123.5 (US$5.42) per share, raising its three-day rally to 37.2 per cent since its debut on Tuesday.

On the negative side, major stocks such as Vinamilk (VNM), VinGroup (VIC), FPT Corp (FPT), PV Gas (GAS) and lender BIDV (BID) slumped.

Property stocks continued to attract investments, and FLC Group (FLC), Tasco (HUT), Novaland Investment (NVL), Kinh Bac City Development (KBC) and Khang Dien Housing Development (KDH) were among the most heavily traded stocks.

Liquidity was positive with 137 million shares worth VND2.4 trillion ($105.3 million) being traded in the two markets.
