Shares inch up on blue chips

Shares inched up on Monday morning on the two exchanges, driven by the recovery of large-cap stocks.

 

The VN-Index on the HCM Stock Exchange was up 0.1 per cent at 715 points.

On the Ha Noi Stock Exchange, the HNX-Index increased 0.34 per cent to 86.6 points.

Market condition was, however, still negative, with 189 stocks rising, 202 declining and 310 remaining flat.

Blue chips recovered and supported the market.

Heavyweight shares such as Vinamilk (VNM), VinGroup (VIC), Vietcombank (CTG) and FPT Corp (FPT) advanced.

Large property stocks continued to attract cash flows, including FLC Group (FLC), Hoang Quan Consulting-Trading-Service Real Estate, Novaland Investment (NVL), Tan Tao Investment Industry (ITA) and Kinh Bac City Development (KBC).

Nearly 150 million shares worth over VND2.1 trillion (US$92 million) were traded on the two markets.

The afternoon session starts at 1pm.
