China seeks inroads with automotive parts fairs
China has announced that several businesses selling and producing automobile and motorcycle parts in Laos will attend both an automobile parts fair in Nanning in April and a motorcycle parts fair to be held in May in Kunming.
Fair organisers, the China National Automotive Industry Parts Sales Corporation, Lao Future and VN-CN Convention and Exhibition Business Co., Ltd., revealed they will also pay for all costs incurred by participants, including air fares and accommodation, at a promotional event held in Vientiane on Wednesday.
The two events are considered important activities in promoting trade by the Ministry of Commerce in China with around 3,000-4,000 booths displaying products at each event, over half of which are made by Chinese companies working in association with the country's National Automotive Industry Parts Sales Corporation.
The 81st China Automobile Parts Fair (CAPF) will be held from April 21-23 in Nanning and will display a variety of different products including engines, chassis and bodywork, electrical applications, oil products, materials and components needed to repair different types of vehicles.
The CAPF is held twice a year in different cities around China with the 82nd CAPF scheduled to be held in Chongqing from October 27-29.
Organisers say the event will combine these exhibitions with forums, conferences, other product promotions and contract negotiations.
During the fair, the Auto Par ts Summit Forum will also be held to discuss topics of global interest including the latest developments and trends in the automotive parts industry, which organisers hope will provide exhibitors and buyers with a comprehensive value-added service.
This year more than 2,500 exhibitors will come from over 30 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities of China with over 80,000 professional visitors from all over the world also participating.
The 73rd China Motorcycle Parts Fair (CMPF) will be held from May 13-15 in Kunming and will display everything from motorcycles, electric bicycles, spare parts, tyres, lubricants and vehicle decorations to related machinery manufacturing equipment, processing equipment including the newest technologies, maintenance equipment, and protective equipment.
In November last year the exhibition area comprised almost 50,000 square metres with more than 2,000 booths and more than 1,000 exhibitors taking part in the fair.
Nanning is the capital of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region in southern China while Kunming is the capital of Yunnan province which is considered an important area because of its close proximity to and connections with Laos, Vietnam and Myanmar.
These countries are considered the route in which to expand Chinese products into Asean markets as well as the transportation link to distribute both automobile and motorcycle parts to the region.
Ultimately, the two fairs have been chosen to take place in Nanning and Kunming with the aim of promoting and facilitating the import and export of goods between China and Laos, Vietnam and Myanmar.
A promotional seminar for the fairs was held in Hanoi, Vietnam, on February 21 and another takes place in Yangon, Myanmar, today.
