Oil, gas production not expected before 2018

Cambodia's oil and gas reserves will not see any production until at least 2018, according to a report by London-based BMI.

“A deferral of development at KrisEnergy’s Block A, which is the most progressive development in the country, prompted us to remove our forecast of 80 [million barrels] of proven oil reserves in 2016,” the report said.

It said the Cambodian government had confirmed that exploration had stopped and that the Kingdom’s first oil refinery, set to start in 2019, had scaled back its original production projections from 100,000 barrels per day to 40,000.
