The blue chip stocks of Vingroup (VIC), Vietcombank (VCB), Hoa Phat Group (HPG) and PetroVietnam Gas Joint Stock Corporation (GAS) contributed to the recovery of the market this morning.

Ending the session, VN Index rose 1.61 points or 0.25 per cent to reach 651.48 points on the southern HCM Stock Exchange, while the HNX Index added 0.15 points or 0.18 per cent to stay at 84.22 points in the northern Ha Noi Stock Exchange.

However, market liquidity remained low, with 70 million shares, worth more than VND1 trillion (US$44.7 million), being traded.

Among the stocks that contributed this morning, the duo of HAGL Joint Stock Company (HAG) and Hoang Anh Gia Lai Agricultural Joint Stock Company (HNG) increased about six per cent each to reach their ceiling prices.
