Domestic gold price hits two-year high

The domestic gold price recorded its highest level in two years yesterday, reaching about VND36 million (US$1,607) per tael or 1.2 ounces yesterday under the sharp rise of global prices.

 

In the afternoon, Sai Gon Jewellery Company listed each tael of SJC gold at VND36.16 million – VND36.72 million (buying – selling), a record high since the end of July 2014, soaring VND720,000 from early sessions of the same day.

The Bao Tin Minh Chau Jewellery Company also sold its gold at VND380,000, an increase of VND220,000 per tael from the morning.

Gold prices in the Asian market soared more than 0.2 per cent to US$1,350.6 per ounce at the first session of the week yesterday.
