Cha-Ching teaches financial literacy

Prudence Foundation, established by Prudential Life Insurance, launched its nationwide financial literacy program Cha-Ching yesterday.

Cha-Ching now reaches 52 million children across the Asia-Pacific region every day. The program uses music videos, an interactive website and mobile apps to teach children about financial literacy.

Having introduced the Cha-Ching curriculum to schools in Phnom Penh throughout the past year, the Prudence Foundation will now begin to implement the curriculum throughout the entire country, according to Marc Fancy, executive director of the Prudence Foundation.

“Our staff will sit with kids and have a Cha-Ching day and go through the lessons of Cha-Ching at a school,” he said. “Through the last year, we’ve been working to actually develop a standard curriculum for Cha-Ching globally.”

He said that the Prudence Foundation is working with the Ministry of Education to officially incorporate Cha-Ching into a standard school curriculum across the country.

“At the moment it’s still quite premature but what we’ve been looking to do in 2016, 2017, 2018 is to work with partners and the Ministry to push that curriculum into the schools where it isn’t reliant on Prudential staff, so that teachers and schools can run it themselves,” he said.
