Food delivery service cooking up a storm in Vientiane

A ne w food delivery service in the capital, Mydelivery, is helping restaurants connect with customers offering a range of Lao, European and Asean food.

Mydelivery owner, Mr Gregory Schmidt, told Vientiane Times recently the business started offering free delivery for orders from 15 different restaurants in Vientiane five months ago. But now that had grown to cooperating with more than 250 restaurants, bars and cafes in Vientiane.

“Mydelivery also has food delivery services in the provinces of Luang Prabang and Champassak so customers can conveniently order great food without leaving their home or office,” he said.

With the advent of the AEC and greater competition, consumers were looking for new convenient services in their lives. So the company introduced online ordering with dishes starting from 5,000 kip depending on customer demand, he added.

Mr Schmidt said the business was set up to be a central contact point for consumers to order from by making one call or online, and it could deliver to many districts around Vientiane ensuring prompt customer service.

Independent food service operators working together cooperatively should allow them to offer better service to a wider range of customers and remain competitive in the current changing times.

The food service industry is currently booming in Laos with many outlets opening including operators from neighbouring countries such as Thailand, Vietnam and China.
