Viet Nam signs $2m deals at Cuba trade fair

Viet Nam signed contracts worth some US$2 million to export its products, mostly home appliances, to Cuba during the 33rd Havana International Fair (FIHAV 2015) from November 2 – 7.

Vietnamese enterprises in fields including stationery, technological equipment and retail, succeeded in seeking Cuban partners and began discussing details of the contracts.

During the fair, Deputy Head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade's Trade Promotion Agency Bui Thi Thanh An, along with Director of the Cuban Foreign Trade and Investment Promotion Centre (ProCuba) Roberto Verrier, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to boost cooperation between the two sides.

Trade between the two countries will be facilitated by their strong political relations, support by the two governments, as well as mutual understanding between the two countries and their people, An told the Vietnam News Agency (VNA).

She affirmed that it was a good time for Vietnamese firms to do business, not only in Cuba, but also Latin America.

The FIHAV 2015 attracted 1,000 companies from 70 countries and territories, including the US, Viet Nam, South Africa, Brazil, Argentina and Mexico. Of this number, 24 enterprises are from Viet Nam.
